Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and the Mayor of the city Indrajeet Arya were present on the occasion.

Speaking at the kit launch event, Delhi Dynamos President Prashant Agarwal announced his club's tie up with the UP Tourism department and also the plan to set up a football academy in the state.

"We are pleased to announce our tie up with UP Tourism. We would like to thank Uttar Pradesh officials for extending their full support to make this a reality. The partnership involves UP Tourism being on Delhi Dynamos kit. Also, we would soon be launching a residential academy in Uttar Pradesh," he said.

Akhilesh said that his government has always honoured players and made provision of pension for them. He said that there were times when maximum hockey players came from UP. The CM said that sports should be linked with studies.

"If we do not inculcate sportsmanship since childhood, the children would not become big players in the future," he said.

He said that SP government was committed to promote sports and it was evident from a cricket tournament organised by the government.

"We have already organised a state-level tournament and the second one will be held soon," he said.

Asked about sports policy, Akhilesh said that the government was already encouraging sportspersons and rupees six crore was being given to Olympic medallists.

Regarding long pending demand of an international stadium in Agra he said, "In Lucknow we are constructing the stadium under Public Private Participation (PPP) model. If interested people are ready to construct stadium, then the government will provide land for the same."
