Bali, July 4: Manchester United and England football team centre-back Chris Smalling was rushed into a hospital today (July 4) at Bali, Indonesia after falling sick during his holiday with his girlfriend.

Manchester United themselves have confirmed about Smalling's condition and said: "We can clarify Chris Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday. He was taken to hospital and is now feeling fine."

Chris Smalling was on a holiday with his partner after England were humiliated by continent minnows Iceland and were knocked out of the Euro 2016 from the round of 16 stage. Iceland defeated England 2-1 and created a major upset in the tournament.

He will be joining the club for pre-season training under newly appointed manager Jose Mourinho shortly.

Earlier, some media houses had claimed that Smalling was bitten by a Jellyfish which resulted in sickness and hence he was taken to the hospital.

But the club themselves cleared the air by releasing an official statement.

Chris Smalling was one of the finest performers of the Red Devils last season where they finished fifth behind city rivals Manchester City.

Even though United had a disappointing year, the defender played some quality football throughout the season. He was arguably the best centre-back in the country which also earned him a call and in England squad for the Euros.
