Bengaluru, August 18: Manchester United are ready to try and hijack fellow rival Arsenal's efforts to sign £55million-rated Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar this summer, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has been constantly linked with a move to Emirates all summer and according to reports, the Gunners are still in talks with Monaco attempting to come to an agreement.

The Arsenal boss earlier conceded that he's in the market for more signings and many reports suggested that Arsenal will sign the French international despite seeing two previous offers rejected.

The Gunners have seen offers of £35million and £40million dismissed by the club as Monaco's board aspire to guarantee that there are not any more prominent exits from the club following Bernardo Silva and Tiemoué Bakayoko's move to Manchester City and Chelsea respectively.

Nonetheless, now it has appeared that the north Londoners are presently facing solid rivalry from Manchester United who are looking at a move for Lemar subsequent to recognizing him as an alternative to Ivan Perisic.

Jose Mourinho has been critical to fortify his wide choices this Summer, however, has failed to land any of his targets like Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic and Real Madrid's Gareth Bale.

And now according to the 'Daily Record', United have changed focus to Lemar, who is probably going to command a fee of around €60million (£54.4m) if Monaco allow him to leave.

Lemar has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in World football last season when he scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists to help his team win the first Ligue 1 title in the last 17 years and to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
