Olivier Giroud breaks silence over his future after his heroic performance against Leicester City

New Delhi, Aug 13: Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has affirmed that he will remain at Arsenal in this Summer after his post match new conference following scoring the winner in their opening day Premier League triumph over Leicester City.

The France forward's future had been in question following the club-record £53million entry of attacker Alexandre Lacazette, with clubs both in England and back in his nation showed the desire of getting him this season.

However, after scoring the late header that secured a 4-3 win at home to Leicester City Giroud denied all the rumours and said his heart remains with the Gunners.

Giroud said after the victory over Leicester: 'To be honest, there was something in my soul and in my heart which told me to stay.

'I have been hesitating because I am the most happy man when I play and I am on the pitch. I keep the faith and I still believe I can have an important part to play this season in the club.

'I feel good in my head and also physically. So I am 100 per cent focused on the club project.'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was also delighted with the former Montpellier attacker's performance and confirmed Giroud's statement as correct.

"I love the man and the player," Wenger told Sky Sports. "He is a fantastic guy as well - committed, he loves the club.

"He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy that he wants to stay."

Giroud joined Arsenal in 2012 from Montpellier and since then has proved to be a decent goalscorer but since the last season, he often been sent to the bench.

However, now his impressive show against Leicester may persuade Arsene Wenger to give him an upgraded part in next fixtures which are Stoke City and Liverpool.
