Bengaluru, August 10: Manchester City have spent plenty of cash during the summer transfer window this time out but Pep Guardiola is looking far from happy with the squad he has and looks to add more quality if reports are believed to be true.
The former Barcelona manager has identified Barcelona stalwart Sergio Busquets as a target this summer, having reportedly launched an enquiry for the 29-year-old, with the Spaniard looking to add to the quality of his squad before the end of the transfer window, according to 'the Sun'.
Busquets, who signed a new deal with the Blaugrana last year includes a £152million release clause as per the Guardian, enjoyed four successful yeas under tactical mastermind Guardiola during the pair's time at Barca, in which the club won an impressive 14 trophies.
In fact, Guardiola was the one who gave the midfielder his identity in world football as the best regista in the world.
City are seeking another defensive midfielder to add to their squad and Guardiola is trying to bring his favourite player in that role.
Guardiola made his interest in Buquets known last summer, however a move for the player never materialised, with the club's move for Busquets set to fail due to the importance of Busquets to Barcelona's starting line-up.
It however seems unrealistic that Busquets will want to end his long association with his boyhood club, but with with Pep at the helm in Manchester, you never know! Should Man City be able to pull off a miraculous move for Busquets, it'll definitely put the Citizens in the driving seat for this season's Premier League title.
The Premier League is all set to start this weekend and we are looking forward to have a season to remember.
