Ronaldo nets three as Real Madrid humiliate Malaga

By Biswajeet Panda
Madrid, Mar 4: Cristiano Ronaldo made an emphatic comeback to form and scored a hat-trick in Real Madrid's 7-0 thrashing of Malaga in a La Liga match on Mar 3. This ended his goal-drought of his last four matches.

As a result of this huge victory margin, Real Madrid have narrowed down their gap with table-toppers Barcelona to seven points.

Until the 51st minute of the match, it appeared as if Ronaldo's barren patch would continue into the fifth match as well. But it all changed when he scored his first of three goals in the 51st minute of the match. One goal followed the other as he netted his second goal of the match in the 68th minute of the match.

His third goal came with just over 10 minutes of the match left.

The other four goals were scored by Karim Benzema(2), Angel Di Maria(1), Marcelo(1). Due to an injury to his left leg, Ronaldo will now not play Real Madrid's match against Racing Santander on Mar 6.

At a post-match press conference, speaking about the injury he said, "I did it when I scored the third goal but I am sure it's nothing special. It's better not to take risks. I don't think I'll be available for Sunday's match."

With 27 goals, he is now level with Lionel Messi as the top scorer in this season of La Liga.
