New Delhi, Aug 23: Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing the signing of goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga from Southampton, according to a report.

The North London club finally on last Friday announced their first signing of this season when they signed Davinson Sanchez from Ajax to make the Colombia International the club's record signing however they could soon add much more in this weeks and reportedly Pochetinno has prioritised a goalkeeper also.

Tottenham last season signed a third goalkeeper, Pau Lopez from Espanyol came with a season long loan spell at the Premier League club and it was earlier believed that a deal will materialise for the young keeper.

However, despite some serious negotiations both the clubs could not agree with the terms and the player return to his native club. Now to fill that void, former Southampton manager Pochettino has reportedly identified his former Keeper Gazzaniga as a potential choice and according to reports, he could become their second signing of this season.

Pochettino and Gazzaniga had worked in Southampton in his coaching days and the Argentine thinks that their company in London could be valuable for the two sides.

Right now the Spurs have two first choice keepers Hugo Lloris and Michael Vorm at their disposal, however, with Vorm nearing 33 and wants to move away from the club after his deal expires, Gazzaniga would fortify that place and make a competition for the both keepers.

Gazzaniga spent last season on loan in the Spanish second division with Segunda Division side Rayo Vallecano where he kept 12 clean sheets in 34 appearances over all rivalries.

And in his time at Southampton, the Argentinean goalkeeper has played 23 times for the senior squad as an understudy to England worldwide Fraser Forster.
