61 entries for Realtech Punjab Open Ladies Golf

Chandigarh, Oct 21 (UNI) The 15th Realtech Punjab Open Ladies Amateur 2007 Championship Committee has receive 61 entries,including 32 from Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali.

Announcing this here today, Lady Captain of Chandigarh Golf Club Pauline J M Singh said that the Punjab Open Ladies meet will be played at the 72-par Chandigarh Golf Club course from October 23 to 26.

Defending champion Sharmila Nicoletter of Bangalore will be the top favourite on the basis of her current form. With Saanya Sharma turning pro, the Chandigarh challenge will be spearheaded by steady Mani Chander. Nalini Singh, Shweta Galande and 13-year-old Gurbaji Singh of Delhi are the other prominent names to be seen in action.

Akriti Singh of Amritsar is a new talent.

A tough fight is expected among Shreya Ghai, Mehr Atwal, Gurbani Singh and locals Rablya Gill and Mani Chander.

Ace Indian golfer Jeev's mother, Nirmal Milkha Singh is among the five contestants in the super seniors category. Eleven year old Seerath Garewal is the youngest participant.

Realtech Group CEO Rohit Malhora was also present during the press conference. Pauline J M Singh, Rima Dhillon (Tournament and Handicap manager), Tina Jain (secretary), Babbles Singh (treasurer), Dimple Minocha (Club Council Coordinator) and Dalbir Sahi (North Zone Representative) are members of the Championship Committee.
