New Delhi, Oct 4: Australia started the opening day of the Delhi Commonwealth Games on a positive note by winning a gold medal in women's 200m freestyle on Monday, Oct 4.
Australia's Kylie Palmer won the gold, Wales' Jaz Carlin bagged the silver and Rebecca Adlington of England won the bronze medal.
Earlier on the day, India also opened its account in medal tally by winning two medals in weightlifting at Jawahar Lal Nehru Sports Complex. India's Soniya Chanu won silver and Sandhya Devi won bronze in the 48 kg weightlifting event. Nigerian woman Augustina Nwaokolo won the gold in this event.
