Chicago, Jan 5: Brands such as Accenture, Gillette and AT&T may have dropped Tiger Woods as the brand ambassador after his personal life fiasco, but EA Sports has announced its intention to go ahead with the online game on the golfer
In a blog post, Electronic Arts Inc unit's president, Peter Moore wrote that the company would begin offering 'Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online' in Jan 2010 a browser-based golf game developed in 2009.
"Regardless of what's happening in his personal life ... Tiger Woods is still one of the greatest athletes in history," he says in the Monday, Jan 4 post.
The game is one of EA Sports' first online efforts.
It will offered to consumers initially at no cost during a testing phase. But later on the players would require to a subscription fee to play.
"We chose to partner with Tiger in 1997 because we saw him as the world"s best, most talented and exciting golfer. We struck that partnership with the assumption that he would remain near or at the top of his sport for years to come," the president wrote.
However, there is nothing about EA's plans on moving forward with the rollout in the summer of its next Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game.
