Jeev, Shiv Kapur fail cut, Jyoti Randhawa climbs up to 18th

By Staff

Belfry, England, Sep 22 (UNI) Ace Indian pro Jyoti Randhawa shot an even par 72 second round to move up by eight places while compatriots Jeev Milkha Singh and Shiv Kapur fell by the wayside as both failed to make the cut in the Quinn Direct British Masters Golf here today.

Randhawa moved up from 26th to 18th place after giving a good display in wet conditions and was the only Indian among the three in the field to have moved into the third round.

The Indian shot birdies on the third, fifth and seventh holes but bogeys on the fourth and eighth saw him turn in one-under. On the back nine, he shot one birdie on the 14th while dropping shots on 12th and 17th to finish the round on 72 to be placed two-under 142.

Jeev, on the other hand, had an uneven round. He shot two double bogeys, one on either side of the turn. Starting from the tenth, he hit two birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys in his five-over 77 to miss the cut by one shot.

Holland's Robert-Jan Derksen and Mark Foster of England were tied at the top to be the joint leader at the end of the second round.
