Las Vegas, May 3: After years of debate and months of hype, finally Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather on Sunday, May 3 stepped into the ring in Las Vegas for the most eagerly anticipated boxing match.
It was a real celeb-fest as Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Magic Johnson were ringside. A huge crowd was cheering for the boxers and they wanted to have a glance at the two men who matter the most.
The two boxers began the real game after the national anthems were done. Jamie Fox led the anthem for the United States.
Seconds after the anthems, people on micro-blogging site Twitter raised questions -- why Mexican anthem was played ahead of the match even though the two boxers are Americans and Filipino.

Always important to sing the national anthem of Mexico when an American and Philipino are fighting.

It was learnt that the Mexican anthem was played as Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") soon will be celebrated on May 5.
Celebrations for Cinco de May are held in the United States and Mexico. Mexican Americans also often see the day as a source of pride; one way they can honor their ethnicity is to celebrate May 5.
The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
