Moscow, Aug13: India's Vikas Gowda qualified for the discus throw final of the World Athletics Championships at the Luzhniki Stadium here Monday.
The 30-year-old registered a throw of 63.64 metres in his first attempt, his longest of the day. In the next two attempts, however, Gowda disappointed throwing 62.59m and 62.67m, respectively.
However, his 63.64m was good enough for him to get into the final as the Commonwealth Games silver medallist finished fourth in Group A while he finished an overall seventh.
Robert Harting of Germany recorded the longest throw (66.62m).
The 12 finalists will compete for the medals Tuesday.
