Hamilton wins pole

By Anmolg

Montreal: Lewis Hamilton pulled off a flying lap in the final lap of the qualification session to secure pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix.

A tough qualification session where every single car in top 10 place was within 1 second difference.

The Brit recorded a time of 1m 15. 105 seconds to grab the pole position.

Most of the teams were using soft compound tires. Former seven-time World champion Micheal Shumacher for Mercedes dissapointedly failed to make it to the third qualifying session while his partner Nico Rosberg manage to squeeze through for Q3 session. Schumacher secured 13th position.

Lewis Hamilton for Mclaren was expected to perform well having won pole position on this track last year. He was spectacular and he lead the pack ahead of the Q3 session.

He set the bar for the rest of the teams with a 1m.15.500 seconds after the Mclaren drivers came out first in the track for Q3 session.

However his team mate Jenson Button had oversteering and was struggling for pace and control.

The other nine cars were not able match Hamilton's timing, until with little more than one minute left, Fernando Alonso for Ferrari clocked the fastest time beating the bar set by Lewis Hamilton but that Alonso's timing was very soon overtaken by Mark Webber for Red Bull.

With just seconds left, Hamilton came out on track full throttle to pull out a flying final lap as the chequered flag was waved and managed to finish the qualification with a Pole position for Mclaren.

This is the third time he has managed to get pole position in this track. He won pole position in the year 2007,2008 and 2010.

Mark Webber for Red Bull managed to hold onto second place after Hamilton and his team mate Sebastian Vettel finished in third position.

Alonso's fatest time was not enough to sustain the pole position set by him as he slipped to fourth position behind both the red bull team.

Italian Vitantonio Luizzi for Force India team did well as he finished 6th fastest followed by Brazilian Felipe Massa for Ferrari.
