Andy Roddick moves into the 3rd Round of Wimbledon 2011

By Biswajeet Panda
London, Jun 23: For an average tennis fan, it seems as if Andy Roddick has been around forever. But despite making it thrice to the finals of the Wimbledon, the American is yet to lift the coveted trophy once. And this time around, he has got some extra inspiration that could help him end the drought.

After all these years, it was the first time on Jun 22, that during his second round match against when Victor Hanescu, Roddick was cheered by his parents seated at the All England Club.

The American star informed it in the post match conference and said, "Yeah, this is the first time they've seen me play here. Honestly, I didn't really believe it. I thought they were here for one of the finals. I thought they flew over and were sitting here somewhere but they wouldn't tell me."

He added, "I think today was the first time they ever sat in a box in my entire career. They picked a good court to debut that on. I think they were having fun."

Probably spurred on by the presence of his parents in the gallery, Roddick made little work of Romania's Victor Hanescu and beat him, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in a relatively easy match. It took him just one hour and 52 minutes to wrap up the proceedings.

Roddick now faces a tricky third-round match against Spain's Feliciano Lopez.
