Isner clinches victory in longest tennis match

London, Jun 25: The longest tennis match ever finally came to an end on Thursday, Jun 24 with American John Isner winning the three-day battle against his French Opponent Nicolas Mahut.

Isner thrashed Mahut 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-3), 70-68 at Wimbledon putting an end to the record-breaking tennis match.

The match began on Tuesday, Jun 22 and lasted all through Wednesday, Jun 23 and finally wrapped up on Thursday, Jun 24.

By playing out a 10-hour duel in the first round match, the players scripted history, broke several records and left the world awe-struck.

The game had to be stopped after fourth set on Tuesday, Jun 22 as darkness set in. The game was stopped 59-59 in the fifth set on Wednesday, Jun 23.
