Nadal thrashes Murray, enters Wimbledon finals

By Samyuktha

London, Jul 3: The fiery Spaniard Rafael Nadal put an end to Andy Murray's Wimbledon campaign by clinching a 6-4 7-6 6-4 victory in the semi final tie on Friday, Jul 2.

Nadal marches into the finals of the grass court Grand slam tournament with spotless record of 13 consecutive wins. He will be clashing against Czech Tomas Berdych in the finals in a bid to regain the title, which he had claimed in 2008.

The reigning World number one emerged victorious in most of the tournaments he played in the recent past. The opportunity to win the Wimbledon 2010 crown would be especially significant for the Spaniard as injuries kept him away from London in 2009.

When questioned about his shape now as against the 2008 finals when he overpowered Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer, Nadal said, "I never like comparisons. Every year is completely different but for me this was an amazing day, a very important victory for me, one of the more difficult victories of my career."

Nadal's final rival, Tomas Berdych earlier ousted Federer in the quarterfinals to move into the semis, where he defeated Novak Djokovic to book a spot for himself in the finals.
