The video footages of Viswas making racist, sexist comments against nurses from Kerala created a huge furore and before it waned, another footage of Vishwas mocking at tennis star Sania Mirza and her husband Shoaib Malik has surfaced on internet. In the video, Vishwas is seen talking at a rally or 'Kavi Sammelan' as he likes to call it, about Sania's marriage with Shoaib, who is a Pakistani.
"Nothing wrong with getting married. She couldn't get ahead in her profession, so she decided to try her luck in another field", he is seen saying. In the speech, he compares Shoaib to an enunch. "If she wanted to marry a 'hitter', she could have married someone from India, why did she go all the way to Pakistan", Vishwas asks, as the crowd bursts out laughing and cheering.
Earlier in 2008, he had cracked cheap jokes about the 'dark-skinned, scrawny' nurses from Kerala, at a similar function. When Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy demanded an apology from him, he said the footage was an 'old one'. Initially he blatantly refused to apologise and tried to get away saying it was a 'poet's license'. But later, as the controversy got murkier, he apologised.
The video must be old, but the person is the same arrogant misogynist, proves the behaviour of Vishwas, who is now gearing up to take on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha polls in his home turf Amethi. The AAP, which is in knee-deep controversies, might have to bear the brunt of Kumar Vishwas's tasteless poems and jokes again.
