New York, Sep 18: United States Tennis Association (USTA) has slapped a fine of 1,500 dollars on Swiss Tennis legend Roger Federer for swearing while arguing with the umpire during the US Open final.
In what could have been the fallout of his heart-breaking defeat to young Juan Martin Del Potro, top seeded Federer apparently used obscene language while arguing with the umpire, Jake Garner.
Federer's outburst disputing that del Potro shouldn"t have been allowed to challenge a call during the second set has been caught on television microphones.
The organisers have lvied a total of 31,500 dollars through fines at the 2009 US Open.
While Serena Williams was docked 10,000 dollars for threatening to shove a ball down the throat of a female line judge, Vera Zvonareva of Russia and Austria's Daniel Koellerer have been fined for audible obscenity.
