India's Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar to join WWE?

By Raja

Bengaluru, Oct 16: WWE has a nag to sign the Olympic representatives under their wings to spread their brand more to the mainstream audience. They are continuing with it now in India as reports surfaced that talks are going on with Indian Olympic medallist, Sushil Kumar.

Sushil's priceless words to Olympians

Apparently, the biggest pro-wrestling promotion in the world is interested in signing the talent in their developmental territory for a long-term basis. Canyon Cayman, the head of the WWE developmental has reached to New Delhi for the same purpose. If everything goes smooth then he is likely to finalize the deal in his tour.

Sushil Kumar

WWE generally calls the certain superstars to the NXT division in Orlando, Florida, with whom they are interested. This visit suggests that how serious they are on signing Sushil. This will be a huge step to connect to the huge fan base in India and the market will go wide open for them.

The commercial handler for Sushil has quoted the following regarding the matter, "I can't obviously give you internal details of when we are meeting etc, but I can confirm that Sushil is very much interested in growing a Pro Wrestling career now."

Sushil apparently interested in an alternative career due to the lack of foundation in pro-wrestling in India. Also, the recent conflict between the wrestlers and the Wrestling foundation in India has forced him to re-think about his career.

In WWE, they are having an additional respect for the Olympic performers and Sushil can make the most out of it. A source suggested, “We are planning on introducing Sushil to Pro Wrestling in late 2017, and we are also talking to various organizations including WWE to open a franchise in Delhi to groom young Indian Pro Wrestling talent."

This is not the first time that WWE is interested in Indian talents. The great Khali had an incredible career, there. Last year, wrestler Lovepreet Sangha signed with the NXT division, as well.

Former Olympians like Kurt Angle, Mark Henry had a great stint in WWE during their times. We can also hope the same for our very own Sushil.
