Bengaluru, August 20: John Cena could not win the number one contender's match against Shinsuke Nakamura, two weeks ago. This was a so-called dream match for the pro-wrestling fans and hence it was a huge loss for Cena. Plus, he lost the bout via clean pinfall which was even more interesting.

However, being the franchise player of the company he will not miss the biggest event of the summer. Following the dream match, he had an altercation with Baron Corbin and put him through the table to end the segment.

This caused in another confrontation, last week to set up the official match between these two at the Summerslam PPV. With the heated segments between them, the match's capacity is already quite high and it was further raised by Cena' girlfriend, Nikki Bella who wanted to slap Corbin for misbehavior.

Now, the Cenation Leader has had quite a rough patch when it comes to the biggest party of the summer. He has lost in eight consecutive singles matches in this event starting from 2008. Here is the list of the same,

Loss against Batista in 2008 (WWE Championship match)

Loss against Randy Orton in 2009 (WWE Championship match)

Loss against CM Punk in 2011 (WWE Championship match)

Loss against CM Punk and Big Show in 2012 (WWE Championship match)

Loss against Daniel Bryan in 2013 (WWE Championship match)

Loss against Brock Lesnar in 2014 (WWE Championship match)

Loss against Seth Rollins in 2015 (WWE and United States Championship match)

Loss against AJ Styles in 2016

Reports from wrestlingINC.com are saying that Cena's bad luck might come to an end, this year. According to them, he will pick up a huge victory at this year's Summerslam defeating the Lone Wolf of the WWE ending the recent losing streak.

The loss is not going to hurt Corbin's character since it is being speculated that he would be carrying forward the recent heat that he is facing after losing the Money in the Bank contract.

As for John Cena, he needs this win since he will move to the Raw brand, after the Summerslam PPV. This will provide him a certain momentum to compete against the new generation superstars. Samoa Joe is going to be his probable opponent on the flagship brand.
