Bengaluru, August 20: As per earlier reports, Jinder Mahal was supposed to lose the WWE championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at Summerslam.

As we all know, the company wanted to enter the Indian TV industry for a while now. So, a champion was needed who could represent the Indian nation comprising 1.3 billion people.

With the innovation of the WWE Network, the company always wants to get more subscribers for the same and they can't get a wider market than the subcontinent.

Jinder, being the champion would have helped them since the fans could brag about him. This was a quite natural process to attract the Indian fans to WWE TV.

The initial response was quite good since Jinder won his maiden title defeating none other than Randy Orton who is a legendary superstar. His win took the world by storm as the world was left shocked days after it happened.

But, gradually it vanished considering that not many people could have connected with him since he did not reside in India for a long time. He was brought up in Toronto, Canada and this fact worked against him.

However, Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter opined that WWE will not take his title away at Summerslam.

According to him, the initial planning of making Baron Corbin the champion via Money in the Bank contract was scrapped off since this does not give any benefit. This is the same reason why Corbin failed to cash-in the Money in the Bank contract, as well. But, the Maharaja is the representative of India and can be an added attraction for the audience.

Also, the fact that Vince McMahon being furious with Nakamura due to the botched move on John Cena might also work in the favor of Jinder. Plus, the feud between these two has not reached to a certain high till today to expect a title change at the Summerslam event.

If you are a Jinder Mahal fan then this is quite a good news. Going forward from Summerslam, the reigning champion is expected to visit India with his championship belt being intact around his waist. We might also get to hear an official announcement regarding this.
