Now, quite evidently a report from whatculture.com suggested that AJ Styles will be the recipient of the Superstar of the Year award, 2016.

Since his debut at the Royal Rumble 2016, he's been a star attraction on both Raw & Smackdown.

The WWE Draft gave him the upper hand to be the top most guy and pick up the WWE championship on Smackdown. Not to mention, that he has delivered some top class matches in multiple PPVs.

At WWE TLC, he has given one of best matches of the year against Dean Ambrose which put him on the shelf for quite sometimes.

According to the recent report from wrestleINC.com, AJ Styles has been removed from all the Smackdown live events and house shows till December 26th.

On that day, he will return to action in a triple threat WWE championship match at Madison Square Garden.

It will be a holiday special live event which will see John Cena returning after a gap of more than two months. So, we will basically see both the bitter rivals returning to action, on the same day.

The removal of Styles from the live events is due to an ankle injury that he suffered while performing a 450 splash on Dean Ambrose during the TLC match.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Styles' injury is not serious and he will recover after a short time-off from in-ring action. Styles quoted the following regarding his ankle injury on the Talking Smack show.

"Health-wise I'm ready to rock, I was ready to go with Ellsworth tonight and then he got sick, I'm ready to go... listen, I can go."

Styles will have to defend his title again on the December 27th edition of Smackdown Live against Dolph Ziggler as announced by Shane McMahon, last week.
