Philly.com reported that WWE will be returning with the 31st edition of the Royal Rumble PPV to the city of Philadelphia. The Wells Fargo Center will be the host of it.

January 27 - NXT Takeover: Philadelphia
January 28 - Royal Rumble
January 29 - RAW
January 30 - SmackDown Live
Previously, cities only had to bid to host the Wrestlemania PPV. But, the rules are now same with the other three i.e. Royal Rumble, Summerslam and Survivor Series, as well.
This tradition is followed ever since the brand extension was done in July 2016.
The cities generally try to be the host of these big 4 PPVs since it attracts a lot of fans not only around the United States but also fans across all over the world. This benefits the economy of the state to a certain extent.

WWE conducted Royal Rumble at the same venue of Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia in the year 2015.
The show witnessed Roman Reigns winning the prestigious battle royal to go towards the main event of Wrestlemania.
With 17000 plus crowd, the event was a successful one and WWE will look forward to delivering another big edition of this dual brand PPV, next year.
