Bengaluru, February 13: The Indian Premier League (IPL) was a sideshow in 2008 in BCCI events list. But a decade later, it has grown as a major revenue earner and in fact the Board is set to receive over Rs 2,000 crore from it i.e 95 per cent of its surplus.
The BCCI projections pins the earnings from IPL at Rs 2,107 crore as against the Rs 125 crore from the international and domestic fixtures.
BCCI paid Rs 3500 crore in tax since the start of IPL
It means the BCCI earns more from the 45-day IPL window than from the rest of 320 days of cricket. The infrastructure expenditure is projected at Rs 1,272 crore as against the income of Rs 3,413 crore.
The upcoming edition of the IPL is expected to earn BCCI a handsome Rs 670 crore while as against the Rs 400 crore that the IPL generated in 2017.
This is also made possible by the new revenue share pattern that now stands at 80:20 after revising from the old 52:48.
