Brett Lee sings new tunes; this time for cancer-affected children

Former Australian pacer Brett Lee inaugurates music therapy programme for children affected by cancer

By Unnikrishnan

Bengaluru, July 27: In his playing time, Brett Lee was one of the fastest bowlers terrorising batsmen with his speed. However, the Australian has a softer face off the field as a music lover and musician himself.

Significantly, Lee combines music with philanthropy. He visited the St Jude (India) Child Care Centre in Mumbai and spent some time with children who are cancer patients.

The former Australian cricketer played guitar for them. Understandbly, the whole experience left Lee chuffed. He also inaugurated the St Jude Child Care Centre's muisc therapy programme, a joint venture also partnered by Mewsic Foundation and Jamna Auto Industries.

"Music is a part of my childhood and it makes me who I am. I staunchly believe that it can change lives. There is lots of research that backs this up and I am privileged to be able to create awareness about its clinical benefits for young cancer patients. I look forward to making more people cognizant of the life-changing positive effects of music therapy," said Lee while inaugurating the programme.
