Mumbai, April 18: Delhi Capitals on Monday (April 18) cancelled their trip to Pune for the next round of IPL 2022 match after the team was hit by Covid-19 outbreak and the players and support staff have been asked to quarantine in their respective rooms.

A Delhi Capitals source said a doorstep Covid-19 tests will be conducted on players on Monday (April 18) and Tuesday (April 19) after which the due course of action will be decided.

The Capitals are drawn to play Punjab Kings in Pune on Wednesday (April 20) and the BCCI officials are in tocuh with the DC management.

It may be recalled that Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart has been tested positive for Covid and is under isolation currently.

Apart from Farhart, two players have also been now tested positive after Rapid Antigen Test and they will now undergo a RT-PCR test to confirm the result.

"Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart has been tested positive for COVID-19. He is being closely monitored by the DC Medical Team at the moment," said in an official IPL release.

Twenty-nine matches of the 15th season of IPL have been played so far, but before the 30th match, the first case of coronavirus has come to light in the tournament.

An important member of the Delhi Capitals team has been found infected with COVID as it turned out to be their physio. Apparently, two players are also under isolation with their Rapid Antigen Test coming positive, and one of them is a foreign player.

The DC management or the BCCI have not disclosed the names of the players.

As per the new Covid-19 Playing Conditions for the IPL 2022, a team needs to field at least 12 fit players ahead of a match for that fixture to go ahead. So, the DC will be waiting for the test results to move to Pune for the match against the Punjab Kings.
