Mirpur, March 4: He might have lost his dear brother but that didn't stop Jeff Crowe, a former New Zealand cricketer and currently an ICC match referee, from officiating the India-UAE T20 match in the Asia Cup here on Thursday.

Players of both sides, who wore black arm bands for the match as a mark of respect, also observed a minute's silence in memory of Martin Crowe, the legendary cricketer, who passed away on Thursday morning after losing his battle against cancer. He was just 53.
Jeff, elder to Martin by four years, acknowledged the condolences and was also seen saluting his brother's photograph on the big screen, making quite a few eyes teary.

Jeff Crowe's cricketing feats aren't as successful as Martin as he ended up playing 39 Tests and 75 ODIs in the 1980s but he is currently a widely respected cricket official and also proved on Thursday that duty comes first irrespective of everything.
Russell Crowe, a cousin of the Crowe brothers, also paid tribute to Martin on Twitter earlier in the day.
My champion, my hero, my friend. I will love you forever.

India's President Pranab Mukherjee also set up a similar precedent last year when he put duty over his grief and attended work hours after the passing away of his wife Suvra.
