Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed couple of records as he scored the joint second fastest T20 fifty and the fastest 50 in Indian Premier League (IPL) history on Thursday (May 11).
Jaiswal reached 50 in just 13 balls, surpassing the previous best in IPL of 14 balls fifty held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins. The young opener achieved the feat of fastest 50 in IPL during RR's match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The 13-ball fifty was just short of the fastest 50 in T20 cricket, the record which is jointly held by former India star Yuvraj Singh, West Indies great Chris Gayle and Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai.
Jaiswal's effort took him level with Marcus Trescothick, Sunil Narine and Mirza Ahsan, who also scored 50 in 13 balls in different tournaments. Here is a look at the fastest fifties in T20 cricket.

Earlier in IPL 2023, Lucknow Super Giants wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran had smashed the fastest fifty of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in match 15 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Pooran reached his fifty in the second fastest time in IPL history as he smashed his way to 51 off just 15 balls at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday (April 10).
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings batter Ajinkya Rahane had smashed the fastest 50 in the IPL 2023 during match 12 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 8).
Rahane reached his fifty in just 19 balls, breaking the previous joint record held by Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Shardul Thakur and Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler, who had struck fifties in 20 balls.
CSK's Shivam Dube also smashed a 20-ball fifty in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday (April 23). In the same match, KKR's Jason Roy equalled the second fastest fifty with a 19-ball knock.
Most fifties this season have come in 20 balls or higher. Jaiswal, Pooran and Rahane's knocks are the only fifties struck under the 20-ball mark this season.

While Pooran led the chart for fastest 50 in the ongoing IPL 2023, his 15-ball fifty is one short of the fastest 50s in the Indian Premier League. However, it was joint second fastest fifty in IPL history.
Jaiswal, however, broke the record during IPL 2023 season by reaching the fifty run landmark in just 13 balls. His 50 was completed in only boundaries as the knock included 8 fours and 3 sixes.
The record for the fastest fifty in IPL was held jointly by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins, who both reached the 50-run mark in just 14 balls. The next best of 15-ball 50s is jointly held by Yusuf Pathan and Sunil Narine.
