Potchefstroom (South Africa), Feb 4: India openers handed the Indian colts a record-breaking win as they defeated Pakistan by 10-wickets in the first semifinal to enter the ICC Under-19 World Cup final on Tuesday.
After the bowlers dismissed Pakistan for 172, the Indian openers chased down the target with 88 balls remaining.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was in fine form as guided to colts with an unbeaten 105 off 113. Jaiswal was aptly supported by Divyaansh Saxena, who remained unbeaten with a score off 59 off 99. Yashasvi sealed India's place in the final with a six, while also bringing up his ton.
Moreover, this is the first time a a team has secured a 10-wicket win in ICC Under-19 World Cup knockouts. Jaiswal was named player of the match.
Earlier, Indian bowlers produced a brilliant performance under pressure to dismiss Pakistan for 172 in the first U-19 World Cup semifinal on Tuesday (February 4).
Pacer Kartik Tyagi (2/32 in 8 overs) bowled yorkers at will while leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi (2/46 in 10 overs) was a difficult proposition to read for the Pakistani batsmen.
Pakistan skipper Rohail Nazir (62 off 102 balls) and opener Haider Ali (56 off 77 balls) were the only ones to make a significant contribution as the innings lasted 43.1 overs.
While Tyagi's scorching pace and Bishnoi's googlies were eye-catching, left-arm spinner Atharva Ankolekar (1/29 in 7 overs), left-arm seamer Sushant Mishra (3/28 in 8.1 overs) and part-time leg-spinner Yashasvi Jaiswal (1/11 in 3 overs) also kept the rival batsmen under check.
Tyagi, probably one of the fastest bowlers in India in his age category, bowled an inswinging yorker wide off crease to uproot Irfan Khan's off-stump and then got his second wicket with an intimidating bouncer that removed tail-ender Tahir Hussain.
In between, Bishnoi bowled his fast googlies to get rid of Fahad Munir (0) and Abbas Afridi (2). The only time Pakistan looked to be gaining some foothold was during the 62-run stand between Haider and Rohail before Yashasvi's part-time leg-breaks saw the end of opener's effort that had nine fours.
Skipper Rohail did scratch around and got a fifty but never for once did he look in any sort of control and was holed out at square leg.

Wicket! Aamir Ali (1) is caught by Siddhesh Veer off Sushant Mishra. India have bundled their opposition out for 172 in 43.1 overs. This has been a clinical bowling effort from the boys in blue as they picked up last six wickets for just 26 runs.
Wicket! Tahir Hussain (2) also departs as he's caught by Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps. The short-pitched bouncer worked for the bowler. Hussain tries to pull, clearly late on the shot because of Tyagi's pace. Paki - 172/9.
Wicket! Rohail Nazir's defiant knock comes to an end for 62. He was looking to pull Sushant Mishra, gets a top edge and Tilak Verma takes a simple catch. Pakistan - 169/8 in 41.4 overs.

Wicket! Mohammad Haris (21) caught by Saxena off Ankolekar. Pakistan - 146/5 in 35 overs.
Wicket! Mix-up into the middle by the batsmen and it costs them dearly as both of them ran towards the same end. Qasim Akram (9) has been run out by Ankolekar/Dhruv Jurel. Pakistan 120/4 in 30.3 overs
100 up for Pakistan in 27th over. They have batted well but dismissal of Haider Ali in the 26th over must have hurt them. Rohail Nazir (31* off 58) & Qasim Akram (1* off 5) are present into the middle for Pakistan.
Wicket! Haider Ali (56) departs as he's caught by Ravi Bishnoi. Yashasvi Jaiswal gets the breakthrough in his very first over. The dangerous-looking Haider is back into the pavilion. Pakistan - 96/3 after 25.3 overs.
After 25 overs, Pakistan reach 95/2. Haider Ali is batting brilliantly on 56* and Rohail Nazir is also looking composed with 28*. The partnership between these two is worth 61.
After 20 overs, Pakistan reach 77/2. The partnership between Rohail - 24* and Haider - 42* is worth 43 now. They are reviving the Pakistan innings now.
