India squads for Australia tour: Injured Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma miss out; big break for Varun Chakravarthy

India vs Australia: Injured Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma to miss tour; selectors announce Test, ODI, T20 squads. The tour will begin towards the end of November with the T20I leg. Rookie spinner Varun Chakravarthy in T20I squad.

India squads for the tour of Australia announced

Bengaluru, October 26: The All-India Senior Selection Committee under the leadership of Sunil Joshi met via video-conference on Monday (October 26) and selected the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Tour of Australia.

Team India will take part in three T20Is, three ODIs and four Test matches against Australia and the selectors announced squads for all three formats. Additionally, they have also announced four additional bowlers for the tour -- Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kartik Tyagi, Ishan Porel and T Natarajan - and they will travel with the Indian contingent.

The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma, who have suffered injuries during the IPL 2020. Both of them have not been named in any of the squads. In the absence of Rohit, KL Rahul has been named as vice-captain of the India white-ball teams.

India will travel to Australia at the end of the on-going IPL 2020 in the UAE. Head coach Ravi Shastri, Test specialists Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari too arrived in the Emirates on Monday and they will undergo quarantine for six days.

The touching point for Indian players in Australia will be Sydney and the Cricket Australia and the New South Wales Government have come to an agreement in this regard.

Ishant Sharma, who plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020, has been ruled out of IPL 13 with a left rib cage injury and it has been reported that he could be fit for the Adelaide Test, which is a Pink Ball match. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has missed the team's last two IPL 2020 match with a hamstring injury and it is not clear that when the Mumbaikar could be fit.
