IPL 2019: SRH Vs KXIP: Warner, Khaleel, Rashid shine as Sunrisers remain in playoffs race - As it happened

For Hyderabad, KXIP encounter was the last game where they had the services of their consistent performer Warner and the left-handed batsman played yet another memorable knock in front of a packed home crowd.

In-form Warner continued his good form and propelled his team to a big total of 212/6 with his knock of 56-ball 81. Before he left home for Australia's World Cup preparations alongside Steven Smith and Marcus Stoinis, Warner finished the season with 692 runs under his belt from 12 innings. He smashed 8 fifties and a century.

KL Rahul put up a lone battle of 79 off 56 deliveries but the Karnataka batsman never got the help from the other end. In-form Rahul perhaps took some extra balls as well and didn't accelarate his innings early on as it is required in a big run chase and that put an extra pressure on the middle-order. Mayank Agarwal (27) and Nicholas Pooran (21) played some cameos but lost their wickets a crucial stage.

SRH got valuable contributions from other batsmen in Wriddhiman Saha, Manish Pandey and Mohammed Nabi as they posted a total in excess of 200.

Chasing a huge target, Kings XI Punjab were off to a disastrous start when they lost Universe Boss Chris Gayle cheaply.

Khaleel Ahmed (3/40) and Rashid Khan (3/21) did well with the ball and rattled the Kings' batting line-up.

Here's how the match between SRH and KXIP panned out:

Apr 30, 2019, 12:27 am IST

David Warner, Man of the Match: It is great to get out there and do your job properly. We have the luxury of a great deck and the groundstaff have worked tirelessly to prepare a good wicket for us. It comes back to basics, backing your gameplan and instincts. I did that and put the team in a good position. It is going back to being still while batting. I get a chance to move around a bit, but once there a couple of dots, I get rush of blood. I have had time off to work harder at my game. Put the bat down for 16-18 weeks and just worked hard on being the best father and husband, that has worked for me. I try and always do that around the team, be the funny man and prankster and try my best to give what is good for the team. First six is always crucial with bat and ball and pretty simple, play your natural game. This World Cup you will see some high scores, playing in England, they are a fantastic team. We are the reigning champions and for us it is going out there backing our abilities and being our best selves. I am looking forward to it and this was a stepping stone to that.

Apr 30, 2019, 12:27 am IST

Kane Williamson, winning captain: Throughout the season you are looking for those two points. It was crunch time and big game for us and it was what we can call as a complete performance. They (Warner and Bairstow) have been world class throughout the whole campaign, have put us in really strong positions. It is important, there is a lot of work to do and it should be a collective effort to fill in someone's boots directly. You are always looking for more and that is what you are trying to do in every game you play. Two games left and they are equally important, we have a day off and then we look forward to Mumbai. It was a really good performance from us all round, we lost to them last time, so we knew it's going to be a tough match. The most pleasing part has been our fielding performance. We pride ourselves on that and it will be important going into the final part of the tournament. There are some guys on the sidelines raring to go. There will no doubt be some changes, they will be excited to get on the park and perform. We still have two games left before we consider those options. It is one game at a time and like you said there is depth in the squad - a strength of ours and we will be calling upon that. It is really exciting and a lot of hard work to go before any talk of finals.

Apr 30, 2019, 12:27 am IST

R Ashwin, losing captain: It's not right to think about the past. It is important to stay in the present and try and move forward. It is not sort of deja vu or anything, one of the days we were outplayed in every department. It has not happened in the tournament before, but we were outplayed in bowling, batting and fielding. I thought 195-200 was about par. We started poorly in the powerplay and then pulled it back nicely in the middle and backend of the game. If you see throughout, we have struggled to chase down totals in excess of 190. We have been around 175-180 and that is some sort of balance issue for us. It is pretty straightforward, you have to keep winning at this stage of the IPL. It is quite hard if you are not able to gather those points. We have to keep our chin up and move forward. There is a lot of young energy inside the team. Everybody is looking forward to go out there and play. We got PrabhSimran to play, he has got some really ability and steam. A win helps to galvanise the team but having said that, we will not go away that easily in the tournament, we will keep sticking our necks out in rest of the games.
