New Delhi, November 10: Holders Mumbai Indians became the second team after Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend their IPL title as the Rohit Sharma-led side defeated first-time finalists Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets in the grand finale of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (November 10).

Rohit Sharma and his band, thus, lifted the IPL for the record fifth time, which is two more than Chennai Super Kings (3 IPL titles). Rohit played a captain's innings in the big game as Mumbai Indians won their first IPL final which chasing a target. The Mumbai-based franchise was too good a team for Delhi Capitals to beat as the Shreyas Iyer-led side suffered its fourth defeat of the season against them.

IPL is known as one of the most lucrative domestic T20 leagues in the world and every cricketer wishes to be a part of this cash-rich tournament to rake in the moolah and recognition in the cricketing circuit.

The BCCI also ensures that the franchises get rewarded handsomely and the prize money for the tournament is always been subject of discussion. This year too, despite being hit badly by the COVID19 pandemic, the board felicitated the players, as well as the top-four teams, with good prize money.

Last year, the BCCI distributed Rs 32.5 crores as part of the prize money to be distributed among the winner and the runners-up. Winners Mumbai Indians received a sum of Rs 20 crore while the runners-up Chennai Super Kings took away Rs 12.5 crore. The board continued the same trend this year as well.

Prize Money for Teams

Mumbai Indians - WINNERS - Rs 20 crores

Delhi Capitals - RUNNERS-UP - Rs 12.5 crores

The two losing sides in the playoffs i.e. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore were awarded Rs 6.25 crores each for finishing amongst top-four in the points table.

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult was adjudged the Man of the match in the Final for his terrific bowling for Mumbai Indians. The left-arm pacer finished with figures of 3/30 from four overs and finished the season with 25 wickets to his name in 15 games. Trent Boult was awarded a cheque of Rs 5 lakh.

The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) opening batsman and the captain KL Rahul was in a league of his own during IPL 2020.

The Karnataka batsman - displayed his batting prowess this year in the UAE - as he scored 670 runs in 14 games.

His team finished sixth the points table but Lokesh Rahul topped the batting charts by a huge margin. The exceedingly talented right-handed batsman has been consistently scoring runs for his team and slammed 5 fifties and a century in this edition.

He was awarded the Orange Cap for IPL 2020 and a cheque of Rs 10 lakh.

The South Africa right-arm pacer won the purple cap for the IPL 2020 edition after the Delhi Capitals' star speedster ended the season with 30 wickets to his name in 17 games in the tournament. Rabada received a cheque of Rs 10 lakh and a trophy. Rabada's team, however, ended up as runners-up.

Emerging player of the tournament: Devdutt Padikkal

Emerging player of the tournament - Young Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Devdutt Padikkal showcased his talent in the season after making his debut. The stylish left-handed batsman was awarded a cheque of Rs 10 lakh.

Most valuable player of the season - The Rajasthan Royals speedster Jofra Archer was awarded Rs 10 lakh for emerging as the most valuable player not just for his franchise but in the entire season.

Super Striker of the Season - The big-hitting West Indies cricketer, Kieron Pollard - who is one of the vital cogs in Mumbai Indians' wheel - was awarded Rs 10 lakh for being the super striker of the season for his impressive strike rate with the ball all through the season.

Dream11 Game Changer of the season: KL Rahul

Dream11 Game changer of the season - Kings XI Punjab's star batsman KL Rahul accumulated 976 Fantasy IPL points this season to emerge as the game-changer of the tournament. Hardik Pandya collected the cheque of Rs 10 lakh and trophy on behalf of Rahul.

Cred Power Player of the season - MI quick Trent Boult was bestowed with this award for his impressive bowling figures in the powerplays all through the season. The left-arm quick returned with 16 Powerplay wickets, an economy of 6.7 rpo, and a 13.5 strike rate. He was awarded a cheque of Rs 10 lakh.

Unacademy Let's Crack It Sixes of the season - The young Mumbai Indians' batsman was a revelation this season as Ishan Kishan played some memorable knocks and hit the most number of sixes in the tournament (30).

He pipped some of biggest strikers of the cricket ball such as Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and MS Dhoni to finish at the top of the charts in hitting the most number of maximums. The left-handed batsman from Jharkhand received a cheque of Rs 10 lakh for his performance.
