Dubai, Nov 5: Defending champions Mumbai Indians on Thursday (November 5) registered a comprehensive 57-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and entered their second consecutive IPL final.
Having set a target of 201 after getting invited to bat first, Mumbai Indians posted a mammoth 200/5 in the stipulated 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav (51) and Quinton de Kock (40) revived their side after the opener and captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck. Ishan Kishan continued his imperious form with the bat and turned out to be the highest run-scorer for his team with his knock of 55 runs.
In the final three overs, Kishan along with Hardik Pandya (14-ball 37) wreaked havoc in the last three overs and accumulated 55 runs and propelled MI to a huge total.
Defending champions and four-time winners Mumbai Indians have been the team to beat in the league stage and claimed their third win over Delhi Capitals in the season.

Later, Jasprit Bumrah (4-1-11-4) registered his best-ever T20 performance and along with Trent Boult rattled through Delhi's top-order early on. Delhi lost their top four batsmen in the first four overs and were pushed against the walls.
Prithvi Shaw (0), Shikhar Dhawan (0), and Ajinkya Rahane (0) failed to open their accounts as Boult and Bumrah struck early. Later, captain Shreyas Iyer (12) and Rishabh Pant (3) were also dismissed cheaply as Delhi batsmen further crumbled under pressure.
Later, Marcus Stoinis (65) and Axar Patel (42) shared an 81-run stand for the sixth wicket and played some good shots but their resistance wasn't enough to prevent their team from suffering a humiliating defeat. Delhi Capitals could only muster 143/8 and lost the match. Bumrah was awarded the player of the match award for his superlative performance with the ball.
Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi as he picked up three wickets but the biggest disappointments for the Shreyas Iyer-led side were the performance of their star pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. The South Africa pacers bowled 8 overs and leaked 92 runs and only picked up a wicket.
Coach Ricky Ponting would be hoping for a much-improved performance from his team in the second Qualifier on Sunday (November 8).
