IPL 2020: RCB vs SRH, Match 3 Highlights: Chahal's three-for, De Villiers' fifty give Bangalore winning start

Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore started their campaign with a win as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 runs in match number three of the IPL 2020.

IPL 2020: RCB vs SRH

Dubai, Sep 21: Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs in their opening game in match number three of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Dubai International Stadium on Monday (September 21).

Chasing a target of 164, the SRH were all out for 153 in 19.4 overs, despite a 43-ball 61 from in-form England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow. Yuzvendra Chahal was awarded the man of the match for his impressive bowling and picking up three crucial wickets which triggered Hyderabad's collapse in the run chase.

Chahal was supported well by pacers Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dube in the match as RCB wrapped up the match in a convincing fashion.

Earlier, Devdutt Padikkal's impressive 56 on debut and a typical explosive half century by AB de Villiers (51) helped Royal Challengers Bangalore post 163 for 5 after they were sent in to bat. SRH bowlers pulled things back in the middle overs after Padikkal and his opening partner Aaron Finch gave RCB a steady start in the powerplay.

Kohli said at the post-match presentation, "It's amazing to be honest. Last year, we were on the other side of the result, 6-nil to start. It is nice to be 1-nil. We kept our composure tonight."

"Yuzi (Chahal) comes in and completely changed the game for us. Not many spinners got much out of the pitch, but tonight he showed that you can turn it if you have it in your wrists. He showed he can get purchase on any wicket. The way he came in and bowled attacking lines, he changed the game."

Talking about his side's batting, Kohli said, "We started really well. Devdutt was really good on debut, Finchy as well. AB batting in the last three overs helped us push it past 160."
