Bengaluru, April 15:A cameo by Chris Morris in the end saw the Rajasthan Royals register their first win of the season, as they defeated the Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
After being refused the single by captain Sanju Samson in their previous game, which the Royals lost by 4 runs, Morris stamped his authority as he smashed a six to pick up the first win of the season for the Royals.
After winning the toss against Delhi, Samson opted to bowl first and the Royals bowlers put up a good show as they restricted the destructive Delhi batsmen to 147/8. Having been handed the first game of the season, Jaydev Unadkat picked up three wickets as Delhi failed to build partnerships.
Rishabh Pant’s solid knock of 51 off 32 helped Delhi put something on the board for the bowlers to defend. But the ask seemed too much, as the Royals lost three quick wickets in the first four overs.
The regular wickets almost took the game away from the Royals, but a superb knock by David Miller (62 off 43) kept RR hanging on. But a sizzling knock by Morris saw the Royals snatch a win from Delhi.
Morris struck a quickfire 36 off 18, in an innings studded with four huge sixes. In the end, Morris surely justified the huge price tag the Royals paid for him at the auction.
With Thursday’s win, the Royals collected their first points for the season. After the match at the Wankhede, both Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals have now won a game and lost a game each.
