Mumbai, June 1: 27-year-old Ankeet Chavan might not have imagined in his nightmares that he would have to be released from Tihar jail just two days before his marriage with his fiancee Neha Sambhare. Wedding plans of the couple, who have been together since last eight years, seem to be spoilt by the scandalous IPL spot fixing controversy.

Ankeet, who was believed to be a promising cricketer, was released from Tihar jail on Friday, May 31. The tainted cricketer of Rajasthan Royals (RR) returned to his Dadar residence in Mumbai to tie the knot.

His marriage ceremony would be held on June 2 but it would be a low-key ceremony. The daily Mid Day quoted one of his relatives as saying, "We had booked the wedding hall in Dadar for June 2, but after this incident no one is in a mood to celebrate in a big way. We were about to cancel the booking of the hall, but there were differing views in the family about this."

The relative also said, "We are very glad that he has got bail, as earlier all the people, including his fiancee Neha Sambhare, were very edgy, as his first plea had been rejected. Now we are just waiting for June 2."

"Ankeet's father and brother were in Delhi to help him in his bail appeal, and when Anil (the father) called up and informed us on Thursday about Ankeet getting reprieve till June 6, we were all overjoyed," he added.

Ankeet got conditional bail till June 6. He had applied for bail on the ground that his marriage is fixed for June 2 and if the wedding does not take place it will harm his reputation and that of his fiancee.

Chavan had to deposit two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each and a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with the court before he was granted bail. The cricketer was asked to surrender his passport and not to make any direct of indirect contact to any person related to the case.

Chavan along with his two other Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammates -- S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila were arrested from Mumbai by Delhi Police. The three cricketers have been accused of accepting money upto Rs 60 lakh for giving away pre-determined number of runs in an over during IPL matches. The trio were suspended by BCCI soon after their arrest on May 16.
