IPL: Upset with Sreesanth, Preity Zinta to join Politics?

Mumbai, May 21: Bollywood actress and Co-owner of IPL team Kings XI Punjab -- Preity Zinta now has expressed her desire to join politics. The actress claimed that she would join politics to curb corruption from system of the country.

Statement of the actress surfaced just days after shocking IPL spot fixing scandal which has shattered the country. Three cricketers -- S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan along with many bookies have been arrested.

Sreesanth, who had played for Preity's team for three years, was known to be close to the actress. Is the actress' sudden statement on joining politics an aftereffects of Sreesanth and other cricketers' alleged involvement in the spot fixing scandal?

The actress, however, did not make any comment on Sreesanth and other controversies. During an interview with a TV channel, Preity was quoted as saying, "Off late, I have been thinking that I will join politics because it's so sad what is happening to our country."

"I really want to be somehow involved in positively changing our country... One fine day (I) am going to come out and say vote for me," she added.

The 38-year-old actress also said, "...people like me don't have to get into a political future, because there are good people. There are lots of good politicians. Don't get me wrong, but they are eclipsed by all the corruption. And the only way to make India shine is if all this stops. Because who is the one that suffers...it is always the man on the street and that breaks my heart."
