Ashes: James Vince eager to kick-start England Test career Down Under

James Vince is eager to take a "second chance" to kickstart his Test career in the Ashes and said England can handle Australia's hostile pacemen.

James Vince was dropped after seven Tests by England following a poor run where he averaged only 19.27

Sydney, October 31: James Vince is eager to grasp a "second chance" to prove his worth in the Ashes and is confident England can handle Australia's hostile pacemen.

Vince was a surprise inclusion in the touring party to head Down Under after averaging only 19.27 in seven Tests before he was dropped last year.

The right-hander will be in need of runs in the tour matches to convince the selectors that he should return to England's middle order.

Vince is determined to seize his opportunity and has no fears about facing Australia quicks Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

"It's a second chance," Vince said. "I was disappointed with how my career started.

"An Ashes series is bigger than any other series. To come here and do well, it can kickstart my career."

He added: "We're here to win, that's the bottom line, I hope I can play a part in us winning the Ashes.

"There's going to be tough times – a bit of pace maybe – but nothing we haven't dealt with before and that we can't deal with.

"So we're very confident with the group of guys we've got here that we can get a series win."
