Kolkata, April 5: Mohammed Saif could not watch that historic Test match between India and Pakistan at Feroze Shah Kotla where Anil Kumble created history by taking 10 wickets in an innings.

Unfortunately, Saif did not have a television set at his fleeting home, made of cinder block and brick.

Saif still does not have a television set at his home. It is not possible for his family to buy a Television set as his father, Mohammed Rafi works on daily wage. He is a rickshaw puller. In a bid to assist his family Saif also works as a marble cutter!

Nobody could imagine that April 4, 2017, was going to be the D-day for this 21-year old left-arm spinner from Bengal.

Saif scripted history by scalping 10 wickets in the first innings to restrict National Athletic Club's innings to 99 runs only to win the match in the CAB second division league match on Tuesday at Taltala ground.

Saif who was playing for Ariadaha Sporting Club saw his team was all out for only 136 after being asked to bat first.

Saif said: “After our innings got out at 136 runs, I tried to cheer up my captain and teammates by saying that we do not need to worry.

"I was amazed to have taken all the 10 wickets. Actually, after scalping seven, I seemed to have got a special boost and felt I would be able to take the remaining three wickets also."

Out of ten wickets, two came following LBW and the remaining eight wickets were obtained through catches. That is why Safi gave credits to his teammates for excellent fielding.

Saif who is a die-hard fan of Ravindra Jadeja said: “I have read the story of Jadeja. He established himself after fighting against extreme level of poverty since his childhood.

"He is my inspiration. My mother Najma Begum had a huge contribution in making my career even amidst the poverty. So, I am optimistic also to be an established cricketer and earn from the game one day."
