Srinivasan all set to become secretary of BCCI

By Staff

Mumbai, Sep 19 (UNI) The present treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), N Srinivasan, is set to become the secretary of the cricket board at the annual general body meeting to be held here on September 27 and 28.

He is likely to replace incumbent Niranjan Shah, who will be stepping down from the post after the completion of his tenure, cricket board sources told UNI here today.

Srinivasan is expected to be the automatic choice for the important post, making him the second official after Jagmohan Dalmiya in the history of the BCCI to be elevated as secretary after serving as treasurer, the sources added.

Srinivasan has already proved himself as the treasurer with the board gaining Rs 260 crore to its coffers during his tenure and thus would be an automatic choice for the crucial post, the sources added.

As per the rules and regulations of the Board, which was amended when Shashank Manohar was named President-elect to replace Sharad Pawar who takes over as the ICC President, the officials to be elected at the AGM will hold office for two years.

Sources also said that present joint secretary M P Pandove will succeed Srinivasan as treasurer. Pandove, in turn, will be replaced by Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association secretary and presently a national selector Sanjay Jagdale.
