Rohit Sharma was particularly elated to win his second IPL trophy at the Eden, saying he wanted to take the entire Eden with him. He said the ground has given him a lot and he looks to play here again and again. Sharma's 26-ball 50 helped the MI overcome the early loss of Parthiv Patel and post on a score that proved too much for the CSK.
It was also at the Eden Gardens where Rohit Sharma slammed 264 off 225 balls against Sri Lanka in a 50-over match here last November. It still remains the highest individual score in one-day internationals. It was also at the same ground that the talented right-hander slammed a 177 against the West Indies in his debut Test in 2013 and bagged the man of the match award.
Kolkata has been a happy hunting ground for stylish batsmen like Mohammad Azharuddin and VVS Laxman in the past. Is Rohit Sharma, whose captaincy has been praised by even greats like Sachin Tendulkar, the latest favourite of the Eden Gardens?
