Virat Kohli rested for T20Is against Bangladesh

Mumbai, October 24: Virat Kohli will be rested for the T20I series against Bangladesh beginning on November 3. Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the absence of Kohli.

However, Kohli will return to the side for the Test series to captain the side. India and Bangladesh will play two T20Is and two Tests in a bilateral series.

Virat Kohli who has been on the road since March this year got a well-deserved break and he will not play the T20Is. But he will return for the Test series and in the absence of Kohli, Rohit will captain India in the T20Is. Kohli's last time out from top flight cricket was when he skipped the last two ODIs against New Zealand earlier this year.

Sanju Samon, the Kerala batsman, got a recall to the T20 side and he had appeared in a lone T20I for India. Samson had made a double hundred recently in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. MS Dhoni, who is on a sabbatical from international cricket since the ICC World Cup, was not considered. Shivam Dube too found a place in the India squad after a strong domestic season. Meanwhile, leggie Yuzvendra Chahal too found place in the squad after missing the T20Is against South Africa.

Rishabh Pant too returned to the T20I squad after being dropped for the series against South Africa. Yuzvendra Chahal too made a return.

India will play two Tests against Bangladesh and the matches will be held at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Rishabh Pant who was omitted from the Test series against South Africa made a return to the squad. The move was made possibly because Wriddhiman Saha had suffered a finger injury during the third Test at Ranchi. However, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem was unlucky to miss out after picking up four wickets against South Africa at Ranchi in his Test debut. He was replaced in the squad by Kuldeep Yadav.
