Women's World Cup: India beat Pak by 10 wickets

New Delhi, Mar 7: The Women's Indian cricket team is off to a winning start in the Women's Cricket World Cup with a convincing 10 wicket victory over arch rivals Pakistan on Saturday, Mar 7.

Women's World Cup is being held at Bradman Oval in Australia. After winning the toss, India elected to field first.

India dismissed Pakistan for a paltry total of 57 runs. Anagha Deshpande and Anjum Chopra then knocked off the runs without any hitches.

Deshpande picked up 26 off 37 balls and Chopra had 17 from 23, reaching the target in 10 overs. The result gave India an excellent start in Group B.

Among the Indian bowlers, Rumeli Dhar was the leading wicket taker who scalped three wickets giving away only seven runs. Amita Sharma and Priyanka Roy took two wickets respectively. Jhulan Goswami and Gouher Sultana dismissed one wicket apiece.

Sana Mir top scored for Pakistan with 17, and Nain Abidi was the only other Pakistani player to reach double figures with 11. The innings started horribly for Pakistan and they were 25 for 7 before a 30-run stand between Mir and Asmavia Iqbal, who scored 9 runs.

The match was completed in 39 overs.
