Barcelona, March 4: A deal to bring in Brazilian promising midfielder Arthur to Barcelona appears to be inching ever closer as per reports, representatives of Gremio are paving their way to Spain to hold talks with the Catalan side in order to discuss the sale of their star midfielder.

In the winter transfer window, there were strong rumours of Barcelona edging closer a to deal for the player. And even a picture of Arthur with Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez standing aside him in the Barcelona shirt surfaced all over the internet in December just days after his team's victory over rival side Lanus.

However, somehow the deal did not materialise and instead, Barcelona decided to bring in defender Yerry Mina from another Brazilian side Palmeiras and captured Liverpool star Coutinho.

But now as per Brazilian outlet UOL, Barcelona are again exploring their options to sign the player and Gremio's executive director Andre Zanotta, CEO Carlos Amoedo and lawyer Gabriel Vieira are set to fly in for talks.

Gremio president, Romildo Bozan Jr has not yet commented on the situation but his chief of staff, Marcus regarding the deal now has all but confirmed the agreement.

"Everything is agreed, the numbers are already closed. All that remains is to draft the contracts, which can probably be finalized this week," he said.

Although Barcelona after the signings of Paulinho, Coutinho and Mina in the last two windows have filled their quota of three non-EU players but reportedly to accommodate Arthur Coutinho has already applied for a Portuguese passport to free up the final space whereas it is also possible defender Mina could also move out on loan before Arthur's arrival.

Arthur although will not the Spanish side immediately in the Summer as according to reports he will remain at Gremio for the rest of the calendar year, that is until January 2019.

The Brazilian reportedly has a release clause of €50m to his name but apparently, a fee in the region of €40m has been finalised between the two sides.

The 21-year-old midfielder caught the eyes of the footballing world last season when he played a huge part in securing the Copa Libertadores title for the Brazilian side.

A box to box midfielder by trade Arthur has played a total 51 matches for the Brazilian side and has scored twice and also last year he got Senior national team call-up by Tite but is yet to make his full debut.
