Chicago, March 19: Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ana Ivanovic have announced the birth of their son.
World Cup winner Schweinsteiger and former World No 1 and French Open champion Ivanovic married in July 2016, with the Serbian confirming her pregnancy in November.
And the couple shared news of their son's arrival on Monday in posts on Twitter.
"Welcome to the world our little boy! We are so happy," wrote Schweinsteiger, who now plays for Chicago Fire.
Ivanovic, who retired in 2016, posted: "Welcome to the world our little boy. Words cannot describe the joy and the happiness we feel in our hearts!"

Schweinsteiger played for Manchester United but did not have the backing of manager Jose Mourinho. The German, sidelined and reduced to appeances in the League Cup, moved to Major League Soccer to see out the rest of his career.
The World Cup winner joined United from Bayern Munich when Louis van Gaal was the manager. The Dutchman too felt Schweinsteiger did not meet the physical demands of the Premier League, but did not approve of the treatment metted out to Schweinsteiger by Mourinho.
Schweinsteiger was named the captain of the German team after the retirement of Philipp Lahm. Schweinsteiger retired from international football in August 2016.
Ivanovic, 30, won the French Open in 2008. She also reached the Australian Open final that year but has not been able to replicate her success in other tournaments since. She advanced to the semi-final of the French Open in 2015 for the first time since 2008, but lost to Lucie Safarova and crashed out.
Ivanovic retired after the US Open in 2016. She lost in the first round to Denisa Allertova and was sidelined due to an injury. She announced her retirement from the sport in December 2016, saying her body could not support the high standards required to win big tournaments.
