Bengaluru, January 31: Scottish giants Celtic want Arsenal’s Argentinian keeper Emiliano Martinez but Spanish club Getafe have to agree to the shock deal to make the transfer possible.

Brendan Rodgers wants an emergency number one to deputise for injured Scotland keeper Craig Gordon and he has approached the Gunners.

The keeper is thought to be keen on the move and the chance to play in the Europa League but he is currently on loan at Getafe and they have to agree.

Getafe are in talks with Crystal Palace about keeper Vicente Guaita and he may move to the Premier League before the window shuts.

Guaiata has already sorted out a pre contract to sign for the South London club in the summer and the clubs are baffling over a fee to take him now.

Getafe cannot let Martinez go until they know if Guaita is leaving and that is stretching Celtic’s patience.

The 25-year-old joined the La Liga side on loan for the season, but he has endured a spell on the sidelines.

Despite being desperate for first team action, he has only made four appearances for Getafe this term.

Championship side Leeds United had also indicated their interest in the goalkeeper.

Martinez has also enjoyed loan spells to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rotherham United earlier in his career.

The 25-year-old desperately needs a move to a club where he would get regular playing time as he has mostly been on sidelines for a long time now.

Still just 25 years of age, he needs to play more in order to improve as a keeper.

Celtic are a big club and Arsenal would surely like him gaining experience playing for a big club like them in front of a huge fanbase.
