FIFA rankings: Top 20 nations as on Sept 5, 2012

London, Sept 6: England have retained their position at number three while Uruguay dropped down to fifth place in the latest FIFA rankings released on Wednesday.

Reigning World and European champions Spain continue to sit at the top with 1617 points. India have gone a place down to 169th ranking despite winning the recently concluded Nehru Cup football tournament.

Even Maldives (159) and Nepal (166), who participated in the Nehru Cup, are ahead of India.

The biggest jumps in the top 20 were Ecuador and Switzerland, who both went up three places to 17 and 20th, respectively. Five time World Cup winners Brazil moved one place above to 12th place.
