Bengaluru, December 6: Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has claimed that Blues new addition Tiemoue Bakayoko needs to improve his game.

Bakayoko joined Stamford Bridge from Monaco in a £40million deal in the Summer but the 23-year-old is yet to repay his price tag. Moreover his two crucial mistakes cost Antonio Conte's side two wins, one against Liverpool at the league and other against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

Bakayoko was at fault in the game against Madrid on Tuesday in the 1-1 Champions League draw at Stamford Bridge.

The guests opened the scoring in the 56th minute when Saul Niguez scored a goal from a corner after the midfielder failed to track Atletico winger.

Although, Chelsea drew level when Eden Hazard's shot was deflected in by Stefan Savic in the 76th moment at Stamford Bridge.

However, the outcome implied that Chelsea advance through to the last 16 of the competitions as runners-up and now could face tough competition in the knockout stage.

Previously, Bakayoko's failure to clear a ball in the match against Liverpool also gave the Merseyside the lead in their league game two weeks back from which Salah score. However, Willian eventually scored to level the game.

But now the former Chelsea star Lampard has criticised the player for not performing up to the mark and claimed that he is not at all impressed by the Frenchman's defensive abilities as well as his concentration in the game.

Speaking to BT Sport after the final whistle, Lampard said: “His body shape’s wrong in the first place.

“He needs to open his body so he can see the run of Saul Niguez behind him.

“And then he sleeps. The concentration goes and at this level, you sleep for a second… and it was an easy goal for Atletico.”

Chelsea will discover their opponents for the last 16 of the Champions League on December 11 and they are likely to be drawn against either Paris Saint-German, Barcelona or Besiktas.
