Manama, March 13: Portugal's Helio Sousa is set to be named as the new coach of Bahrain national football team.
He will take over the reins from Czech Republic's Miroslav Soukup, whose contract had expired after the 2019 AFC Asian Cup held in the UAE last month, where Bahrain lost to South Korea 1-2 in the round-of-16.
According reports which appeared on the Bahrain Football Association's (BFA) official Instagram account, BFA President Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has discussions with Sousa following which the latter agreed to terms to take over the national team.

The 50-year-old was a former coach of Portugal Under-19 national team, and helped them win the European Championship in 2018.
He also steered Portugal to the European Championship Under-17 title in 2016.
Sousa is expected to carry the fortunes of the team, starting from the the qualifiers of the FIFA World Cup 2022 to be held in Qatar.
